Introduction to ePTFE Tube
Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) pipe is a high-tech material pipeline made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) through special processing technology. During the manufacturing process, solid PTFE is transformed into a porous material with a large number of micropores through methods such as stretching and puffing. These micropores not only ensure good breathability and liquid permeability of the material, but also maintain its excellent chemical stability and biocompatibility.
Characteristics of ePTFE Tube
1. Chemical corrosion resistance: Due to PTFE being a highly stable polymer material, ePTFE pipes can resist the corrosion of most strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, and will not undergo chemical reactions or degradation after long-term use.
2. Biocompatibility and biological inertness: ePTFE tubes are non-toxic and do not produce adverse reactions with human tissues, making them suitable for implantable medical devices such as intravascular catheters, nerve catheters, etc.
3. Low friction coefficient and lubricity: ePTFE has a smooth surface and good lubricity, which reduces resistance during instrument insertion and minimizes damage to surrounding tissues.
4. Hydrophobic and oleophobic: ePTFE tubes can effectively repel water and oil, while allowing gases and certain liquids to pass through. This unique permeability makes them suitable for applications that require controlled fluid transport.
